Prime Minister Narendra Modi defended the government's response to the alleged NEET paper leak during the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday, stating that decisive steps had been taken to address the issue and prevent similar incidents in the future. The remarks came amid continuing political debate and widespread protests over examination irregularities, including demonstrations held in Delhi over the past several days.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Prime Minister called for the strictest possible punishment for those involved in the alleged paper leak racket. According to Rijiju, the Prime Minister emphasised that maintaining the integrity of public examinations is a national responsibility and urged collective efforts to build a robust and foolproof examination system.

Rijiju said the Prime Minister highlighted the government's swift response after reports of the alleged paper leak surfaced. He noted that investigations were initiated immediately, arrests were made, and a re-examination was conducted to minimise the impact on students and protect their academic future. The Prime Minister also said that measures have been introduced to strengthen safeguards against future examination leaks.

The issue has gained significant political attention following allegations of irregularities in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), one of India's largest competitive examinations for medical admissions. The controversy has also become a major subject of discussion during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, with opposition parties demanding accountability and pressing for broader discussions on examination reforms.

The Prime Minister also appealed to NDA partners to remain united in supporting legislative business and urged opposition parties to participate constructively in parliamentary proceedings. While acknowledging political differences, he stressed that all Members of Parliament share a common responsibility towards the country's future and the welfare of its youth.

The government's response comes after large-scale protests in the national capital over the alleged NEET paper leak and other examination-related concerns. The controversy continues to dominate the political agenda, with the Centre maintaining that strict action has been taken against those allegedly involved and reaffirming its commitment to ensuring greater transparency, fairness and security in India's examination system.
