Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh announced that the party will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections independently, ruling out any alliance with the INDIA bloc. In a candid interview with PTI Videos, Singh accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of manipulating voter lists, echoing claims made by the INDIA bloc, and criticized the BJP’s treatment of migrants from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Singh highlighted alleged voter list tampering, citing the deletion of thousands of names in Delhi, where he claimed BJP targeted migrant voters from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, falsely labeling them as Bangladeshi infiltrators. “The BJP has been in power in Bihar for 20 years. If there are illegal immigrants, why haven’t they acted?” he questioned. He also supported West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s claims of targeted harassment of Bengali migrants, pointing to slum demolitions in BJP-ruled Delhi as evidence of anti-migrant policies.
Defending Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s recent remarks mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s international visits, Singh dismissed BJP’s outrage as “dramebaazi” (theatrics). He argued Mann’s critique of Modi’s trips to countries like Papua New Guinea was valid, questioning the PM’s priorities for a nation of 144 crore people.

Singh also referenced RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that those over 75 should retire from public life, calling it a “big signal” to Modi, who turns 75 in September. He urged the PM to follow his own precedent of sidelining senior leaders like Lal Krishna Advani due to age.
Criticizing the INDIA bloc’s internal dynamics, Singh pointed to the marginalization of leaders like Pappu Yadav and Kanhaiya Kumar, questioning the coalition’s unity. Despite AAP’s past seat-sharing with Congress in Delhi’s Lok Sabha polls, Singh emphasized the party’s independent stance in Bihar, citing its commitment to transparency and anti-corruption.
As Bihar gears up for the 2025 Assembly elections, AAP’s solo bid and Singh’s allegations set the stage for a heated contest, with voter list controversies likely to remain a flashpoint.
