The Bharatiya Janata Party has drawn up an extensive digital and grassroots campaign strategy ahead of the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections as it prepares to challenge the ruling All India Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee. According to party insiders, the strategy combines digital outreach, local feedback systems, and targeted messaging aimed at key voter groups in the state.
A central element of the campaign involves the creation of more than 1.3 lakh WhatsApp groups designed to track real-time feedback from voters and party workers across West Bengal. Party leaders believe these digital networks will help them monitor ground-level sentiment, circulate campaign material quickly, and identify issues that resonate with different sections of the electorate during the election campaign.
In addition to the WhatsApp network, the BJP is planning to distribute short campaign videos, including 20-second clips highlighting the party’s promises and achievements. These digital clips are expected to focus on themes such as development initiatives driven by the central government and the party’s commitment to governance reforms. Party strategists believe short-form digital messaging can help reach younger voters and urban audiences more effectively.

Senior BJP leaders say the campaign strategy has been shaped through months of feedback collection under the supervision of Union minister and West Bengal in-charge Bhupender Yadav. According to party sources, Yadav has visited the state multiple times since September to assess political conditions and gather insights from grassroots workers, which were later incorporated into the party’s election planning.
The BJP also plans to highlight what it describes as growing dissatisfaction among certain voter groups, particularly government employees and middle-class residents. Party insiders claim these groups have expressed concerns over issues such as the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission, delays in government recruitment, and law-and-order matters in the state – topics the BJP intends to raise prominently during the campaign.
The campaign is also expected to feature high-profile rallies and outreach programmes led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP leaders believe that combining digital mobilisation with large-scale political events will strengthen the party’s efforts to expand its support base in West Bengal as it prepares for a closely watched electoral contest with the Trinamool Congress.
