YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Anantapur MP Talari Rangaiah accused the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Andhra Pradesh of tarnishing the state’s image through alleged extortion of industrialists, including a leading automobile manufacturer, KIA Motors, in Rayalaseema’s Anantapur district. In a press release, Rangaiah claimed that TDP leaders illegally entered KIA’s premises, demanding contracts, commissions, and jobs, actions he warned could force factory closures and drive industries out of the state.
“Instead of the visionary governance promised by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, we see extortion and mismanagement,” Rangaiah stated, alleging the coalition—comprising TDP, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Jana Sena Party (JSP)—is plundering natural resources like sand, quartz, and liquor while stifling wealth creation. He further accused the government of manipulating welfare schemes to favor party loyalists, violating impartiality principles, and noted a decline in welfare pension beneficiaries alongside retrenchments of field assistants, animators, and contractors, contradicting job creation promises.
Rangaiah contrasted this with the YSRCP’s tenure under Jagan Mohan Reddy (2019–2024), claiming it ensured transparent, corruption-free welfare delivery via direct benefit transfers. He cited the Navaratnalu schemes, which provided Rs 15,000 to mothers for schoolchildren and comprehensive fee reimbursements, as examples of inclusive governance. “This corrupt governance threatens industries and impoverishes citizens,” he warned, urging immediate reforms. The TDP has not yet responded to these allegations..
