Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials across Uttar Pradesh to strengthen security and administrative preparedness ahead of Bakri Eid, stressing that ritual animal sacrifice would not be allowed at public places during the festival. Chairing a high-level review meeting in Lucknow, the chief minister said sacrifices must take place only at pre-designated sites and warned against encouraging any new practices during the celebrations.
According to an official government statement, Adityanath reiterated that the sacrifice of prohibited animals remains completely banned in the state. He also instructed authorities to ensure that namaz is offered only at traditional locations and said no permission should be granted for prayers on roads under any circumstances. Officials were told to maintain heightened vigilance in sensitive districts and ensure uninterrupted power supply, sanitation, and security arrangements during the festive period.
The chief minister further directed district administrations to establish a proper system for disposal of waste generated after ritual sacrifices. He said open sale of meat would not be permitted and ordered strict action against illegal slaughterhouses operating in the state. Even licensed slaughterhouses, he said, must strictly adhere to prescribed animal-holding capacities. Police and local authorities were also instructed to conduct flag marches and continuous foot patrols near religious sites to maintain law and order.

During the review meeting, Adityanath interacted with district magistrates and senior police officials from sensitive districts including Aligarh, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Rampur and Sambhal. He instructed officials to analyse past incidents, identify possible disruptive elements and initiate preventive action wherever necessary. Authorities were also told to maintain regular communication with peace committees at police station, tehsil and district levels.
The chief minister also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Ganga Dussehra festival and directed officials to ensure cleanliness of ghats, barricading, ambulance deployment, shaded waiting areas and proper parking arrangements in districts such as Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Hapur, Muzaffarnagar and Amroha. He emphasised that public safety and convenience must remain the top priority amid the prevailing heatwave conditions.
Apart from festival preparedness, Adityanath directed officials to intensify action against illegal mining and vehicles operating without number plates. He also instructed authorities to organise weekly block-level ‘chaupals’ to address public grievances related to revenue disputes, domestic violence, extortion and police complaints. Reviewing the functioning of the AYUSH department, the chief minister said Uttar Pradesh should be developed into a major wellness destination through the integration of Yoga, Panchakarma, naturopathy and modern management practices under the proposed ‘AYUSH Health and Wellness Policy-2026’.
