Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the long-standing vision of “Sonar Bangla” will now move toward realisation after the formation of the new government in West Bengal. Speaking after attending the swearing-in ceremony in Kolkata, he said the state is poised for what he described as a period of cultural, spiritual and economic revival. He added that the new leadership would work in alignment with broader national development goals and public aspirations.
The remarks were made after the oath-taking ceremony of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who assumed office following the state’s recent political transition. Adityanath extended his congratulations to Adhikari and several newly inducted ministers, including Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Ashok Kirtania, Kshudiram Tudu and Nisith Pramanik. He wished them success and said their roles would be crucial in shaping governance priorities in the state.
According to an official statement from the Uttar Pradesh government, Adityanath also participated in ceremonial exchanges on stage during the event. He presented Adhikari with a saffron angvastra, a symbolic gesture often associated with political goodwill and ideological alignment. The ceremony was attended by senior leaders of the National Democratic Alliance, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with several chief ministers from NDA-ruled states.

In a post on social media platform X, Adityanath expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Adhikari, West Bengal would enter what he called an “amrit kaal” of development. He stated that governance under the new administration would focus on restoring democratic values, strengthening institutions, and addressing the aspirations of citizens. He also said he prayed for the success of the government in delivering long-term progress for the state.
The swearing-in ceremony at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Grounds was marked by strong political symbolism and large-scale participation. The backdrop of the stage prominently displayed images of the Dakshineswar temple and Goddess Durga, reflecting cultural and religious motifs. A memorial dedicated to BJP workers who were killed in political violence in West Bengal was also set up at the venue, highlighting the party’s narrative of past conflicts in the state.
Adityanath had been actively involved in the election campaign in West Bengal, addressing multiple rallies in support of the BJP. His speeches during the campaign often emphasised cultural identity, development, and governance change in the state. The visible camaraderie between him and Adhikari during campaign events and the swearing-in ceremony was also seen as a reflection of close political alignment within the party leadership.
