India effectively called Pakistan’s “nuclear bluff” during Operation Sindoor by carrying out precision strikes deep inside Pakistani territory against terror infrastructure, Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod said on Thursday while addressing the anniversary of the military operation.
Speaking as part of commemorative events marking Operation Sindoor, the Director General Naval Operations described the strikes as an example of “calibrated resolve” and said the operation demonstrated India’s willingness to act decisively despite repeated nuclear threats from Pakistan. He added that future military responses would focus not just on retaliation but on maintaining “sustained overmatch” and shaping the battlefield from the outset.
Vice Admiral Pramod said India’s use of long-range precision weapons to strike terror hubs inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir exposed what he termed Islamabad’s reliance on nuclear signalling to deter conventional military action. He also highlighted the growing importance of uncrewed and autonomous systems in modern warfare, saying recent conflicts globally had reinforced the need for their faster integration into India’s operational framework.

The remarks echoed earlier statements made by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who had accused Pakistan of using nuclear threats as a strategic bluff while describing the country as an “epicentre of international terrorism.” Indian officials have repeatedly argued that the success of Operation Sindoor demonstrated that such threats would not prevent targeted action against terror groups operating across the border.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, involved coordinated Indian military strikes against nine identified terror launch pads located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. According to Indian authorities, the operation targeted infrastructure linked to banned organisations including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
The operation marked one of India’s most extensive cross-border precision strike campaigns in recent years and significantly escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. Military analysts say the operation also reflected a shift in India’s strategic posture, emphasising rapid precision strikes, integrated warfare systems, and deterrence through conventional military superiority.
