Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday announced that more than 70 per cent of the internal security-related directives issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the recent All India Conference of DGs and IGs have already been implemented in the state. The directives aim to enhance the state’s preparedness against emerging security threats.
Speaking after a state-level review meeting, CM Saha said the session was a follow-up to the 60th All India DGs and IGs Conference held in Raipur on November 29–30. The national conference, attended by PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, focused on national security challenges, evolving crime patterns, and disaster response strategies.
CM Saha highlighted that detailed deliberations at the national level addressed threats such as protests funded by NGOs and foreign sources, as well as logistical support for unlawful activities. The discussions have informed Tripura’s strategy to strengthen law enforcement, intelligence, and internal security infrastructure.

Noting the broader responsibilities of modern policing, the Chief Minister emphasized that police duties now include disaster management, public safety, and social outreach. He said the state is aligning with the Centre’s vision to create a “New India” while striving to build a “New Tripura” that sets standards for effective policing.
Referring to geopolitical developments, CM Saha stressed India’s firm stance on national security, citing past challenges from Pakistan and China. He noted that strengthening democracy and people-friendly policing are crucial, and urged officers to wear their uniform with pride while maintaining empathy and professionalism.
The meeting at Pragna Bhavan was attended by senior officials including Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and Director General of Police Anurag. CM Saha called it a “golden opportunity” for Tripura Police to become a model force, urging officers to strictly follow the Prime Minister’s guidelines and reinforce internal security preparedness across the state.
