A deadly incident unfolded at Kubreshwar Dham in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district on Tuesday, where two devotees lost their lives and three others sustained injuries during a stampede-like situation. The tragedy occurred around noon amid preparations for the Kanwar Yatra, a major religious pilgrimage that draws thousands of Shiva devotees annually. The temple premises, already brimming with pilgrims, became the site of chaos as the crowd surged uncontrollably.
Kubreshwar Dham, a revered spiritual site closely linked to prominent spiritual leader Pandit Pradeep Mishra, witnessed a massive influx of people ahead of Wednesday's yatra. According to eyewitness accounts, the crowd began jostling for space, leading to a scuffle and eventual stampede. The overcrowded conditions and lack of adequate crowd management allegedly contributed to the fatal outcome.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sunita Rawat confirmed the deaths and said that efforts are currently underway to identify the deceased. The injured were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, and their condition is being closely monitored. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the exact sequence of events and any lapses in safety protocols.
