A devastating accident claimed the lives of three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and left 15 others injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday morning. The tragedy unfolded around 10:30 am in the Kadwa area when a vehicle from the CRPF’s 187th battalion, carrying 23 personnel, skidded off the road and plummeted into a nallah while returning from an operation in Basant Garh.
According to officials, the vehicle lost control on the rugged terrain, leading to the catastrophic crash. Two jawans died on the spot, while 16 others sustained injuries. The injured were swiftly evacuated to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention, but one more succumbed to injuries, raising the death toll to three. The condition of the remaining injured personnel is being closely monitored, with medical teams providing round-the-clock care.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the CRPF and the local community, highlighting the risks faced by security forces in challenging terrains. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, with preliminary reports pointing to possible road conditions or mechanical failure.
