A devastating road accident in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district claimed the lives of two women teachers and left ten others injured after a school van collided head-on with a trailer truck on Thursday morning, police said.
The fatal crash occurred near Tanakhar village when a van carrying 11 staff members and two students from the Eklavya Model Residential School in Pondi Uproda was en route from Katghora town to the school.
According to initial reports, the van driver allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

All 13 van occupants sustained injuries and were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Katghora. The seriously injured were referred to hospitals in Korba and Bilaspur for advanced treatment.
Tragically, two teachers — Anjana Sharma (30) from Delhi and Manju Sharma (32) from Haryana — succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Both had been living in rented accommodations in Katghora.
Among the injured, five are being treated in Korba, two in Bilaspur, while three others with minor injuries remain in Katghora.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local education community and raised serious concerns about road safety in the region.
