A rare gathering of leaders from rival political camps unfolded at a wedding reception in the national capital, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appearing in the same frame. The high-profile event was held at 6 Janpath on Monday night to celebrate the marriage of Revati Sule, daughter of Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule, and Nagpur-based industrialist Sarang Lakhani. The couple had married in Mumbai in June, with the Delhi reception bringing together several prominent political figures.
Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi were among the political leaders present at the event, despite their parties being on opposite sides of the political divide. Shah was seen waiting to go on stage while Rahul Gandhi stood nearby. Supriya Sule was seen guiding Shah towards the stage, where he greeted the newlyweds with folded hands and presented them with a bouquet. The couple also sought his blessings during the interaction, as photographers captured the moment.
Rahul Gandhi later arrived at the stage with his mother Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi. Supriya Sule brought Sonia Gandhi towards the centre of the stage before inviting Rahul Gandhi to stand alongside the couple. The Gandhi family then posed with the newlyweds, creating another notable moment at the reception. The gathering provided several opportunities for photographers to capture leaders from different political parties interacting in a social setting away from the usual atmosphere of Parliament and political debates.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also among the prominent guests at the reception. He met veteran politician Sharad Pawar and his wife before joining them on stage to greet the newly married couple. The event was attended by leaders from multiple parties and political backgrounds, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Congress MP Deepender Hooda, who were seen exchanging greetings. Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and Chirag Paswan also attended the gathering and congratulated the couple.
Several other political figures and public personalities were present at the reception. Union ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Giriraj Singh, Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma, Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury, Congress leader Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale were among those who attended. Former Union minister Smriti Irani and Indian Olympic Association president and athlete PT Usha were also present. Leaders were seen sharing tables, exchanging greetings and engaging in informal conversations during the evening.
The reception also brought together leaders who frequently face each other in electoral and political contests. Sonia Gandhi was seen approaching Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who was seated at a table, and exchanging pleasantries with him. The images and interactions from the event offered a glimpse of political leaders meeting in a personal and celebratory setting, highlighting how social occasions can bring together figures who remain sharply divided on political issues. The gathering ultimately became notable for the rare visual of senior leaders from rival political groups sharing the same stage and celebrating a family occasion.
