A fierce fire erupted in Parsik Cafe, located on the ground floor of a six-storey residential building in Thane’s Kharegaon area, early Thursday morning, triggering the evacuation of 35 residents. The blaze, which broke out at 4:58 a.m. in the 1,000-square-foot establishment within the Chandrabhaga Park complex in Kalwa (West), caused extensive damage but no casualties, according to officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell.
The fire ravaged the cafe, destroying tables, chairs, grates, refrigerators, cupboards, and kitchen equipment, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the disaster management cell. The cafe owner alerted authorities, prompting a swift response from fire tenders and emergency personnel. By 6:25 a.m., firefighters had extinguished the flames, but not before the blaze caused significant destruction inside the eatery.
For safety, all residents of the B Wing of Chandrabhaga Park, a multi-storey structure housing multiple families, were evacuated with the assistance of the fire department and disaster management team. Many residents were asleep when the fire broke out, making the rapid evacuation critical to preventing injuries.
