Telangana is set to launch a dedicated Tourist Police force to enhance the safety and security of visitors across the state’s major tourism hotspots, announced Director General of Police Jitender during a coordination meeting with the Telangana Tourism Department on Wednesday. The initiative, slated for implementation by World Tourism Day on September 27, aims to bolster confidence among domestic and international tourists.
In the first phase, 80 police personnel will be deployed to key destinations, including Ananthagiri, Somasila, Yadagirigutta, Pochampally, Nagarjunasagar, Buddhavanam, Bhadrachalam, and Amrabad. “The Tourist Police System will ensure a safe and welcoming environment for visitors,” Jitender said, pledging full cooperation between the police and tourism departments to promote Telangana as a premier travel destination.
The DGP also proposed that the Tourism Department develop standard operating procedures for issuing permits for film shoots and special events, enabling police to provide timely security arrangements. He urged film producers and event organizers to notify authorities in advance to facilitate robust safety measures, ensuring seamless operations at tourist sites.
