Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka has issued a legal notice to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), alleging defamation over social media posts related to the procurement of mobile phones for Anganwadi workers.
According to the legal notice, Seethakka has demanded that KCR take responsibility for posts published on the BRS’s official and affiliated social media accounts, remove the content, and issue a public apology within 48 hours. The notice warns that failure to comply would result in civil and criminal legal action against him.
The controversy stems from allegations circulated on April 10 through BRS-linked social media handles, which claimed irregularities in the procurement of smartphones for Anganwadi workers. The posts alleged that the cost of each phone was shown as ₹14,499 instead of ₹8,499, and suggested that this led to alleged corruption amounting to ₹30 crore. The minister has strongly denied these claims.

In her defence, Seethakka has stated that she had no role in the procurement process. The legal notice clarifies that Telangana Technology Services Limited handled the bidding and contract awarding process, and that she was not part of the Tender Evaluation Committee. It further states that the total tender value itself was around ₹44 crore, making the corruption allegations “false and baseless.”
The notice also alleges that the statements made by the BRS and its supporters were part of a coordinated attempt to defame the minister. It claims that the allegations are inherently defamatory and have damaged her public image, constituting defamation under applicable legal provisions.
Seethakka has demanded that the posts be deleted from platforms such as Facebook and X, and that a public apology be issued not only on social media but also in the Telugu daily Namasthe Telangana. The notice further warns that if the demands are not met within the stipulated time, she will proceed with both civil and criminal proceedings against KCR and those responsible for the posts.
