In a significant move to enhance administrative efficiency, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin flagged off 155 brand-new vehicles on Monday, allocated specifically for revenue and disaster management officials across the state. The fleet, procured at a total cost of Rs 13.73 crore, includes cars designated for key positions such as sub-collectors, deputy collectors, and tahsildars to facilitate smoother fieldwork and emergency responses.
The initiative stems from a formal announcement made during the 2025-2026 budget session in the state Assembly, underscoring the government's commitment to modernizing essential departmental resources. These vehicles are expected to improve mobility for officials handling critical tasks in revenue administration and disaster mitigation, enabling faster and more effective service delivery to the public.
According to an official release, this procurement forms part of a broader effort since the current administration assumed office in May 2021, during which a total of 370 new vehicles have been supplied to revenue officials. The cumulative investment for these additions stands at Rs 36.74 crore, reflecting sustained focus on equipping field-level functionaries with reliable transportation.

The flag-off ceremony witnessed the presence of senior dignitaries, including Revenue Minister KKSSR Ramachandran and Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, alongside other high-ranking officials from the department. Their participation highlighted the importance attached to strengthening the operational capabilities of the revenue machinery.
This development is poised to bolster on-ground coordination, particularly in remote areas and during crisis situations, as the enhanced fleet supports timely interventions and administrative oversight across Tamil Nadu's diverse districts.
