Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to inaugurate the new Karnataka Bhavan building, christened ‘Kaveri,’ on April 2 in the upscale Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave.
The ₹140 crore project, greenlit in 2019, replaces a crumbling 50-year-old structure deemed unsafe by the New Delhi Municipal Council, with costs ballooning under successive state governments.
The Wednesday ceremony will draw a high-profile crowd, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Pralhad Joshi, HD Kumaraswamy, Shobha Karandlaje, and V Somanna, officials confirmed Monday.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and state ministers HC Mahadevappa and Satish Jarkiholi will also attend, marking a rare bipartisan turnout.
‘Kaveri’ boasts modern amenities, featuring exclusive suites tailored for the state’s governor, chief minister, Karnataka High Court chief justice, and other VVIPs.
The building aims to serve as a prestigious hub for Karnataka’s officials and dignitaries in the capital, reflecting the state’s growing presence amid Delhi’s diplomatic corridor. With its sleek design and upgraded facilities, ‘Kaveri’ stands as a testament to Karnataka’s evolving infrastructure ambitions.
