Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved several key proposals of the Madhya Pradesh government during a meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at Krishi Bhavan on Thursday.
The meeting, attended by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel and senior officials from both the Union Ministry of Agriculture and the state government, focused on agricultural procurement and rural development initiatives in Madhya Pradesh.
Chouhan approved the state’s proposal under the Bhavantar Payment Scheme for mustard procurement, instructing concerned departments to expedite payments, offering relief to mustard farmers. Additionally, he handed over an approval letter for 100% procurement of Tur (pigeon pea) in Madhya Pradesh, ensuring farmers are protected from market price fluctuations.

The discussions also covered pending payments for mustard and soybean, additional targets for green gram and black gram under the Pulses Mission, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PM Crop Insurance Scheme), Soil Health and Fertility Programme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Chouhan directed officials to prioritise Madhya Pradesh-related matters so that farmers, labourers, and the rural poor receive timely relief and benefits. He highlighted that 2026 is being observed as the ‘Farmer Welfare Year’ in Madhya Pradesh and reaffirmed that the Centre is giving special priority to agricultural development in the state.
“During the Farmer Welfare Year, it will be ensured that farmers cultivating mustard, pigeon pea, green gram, black gram, and other oilseeds receive all possible assistance, while the state continues to lead in rural development,” Chouhan said.
