Security was heightened at the Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib gurdwara in Patna on Monday evening after police received a bomb threat email, officials confirmed. The shrine, considered one of the five Takhts of Sikhism and revered as the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Sikh Guru, draws thousands of devotees every year and is a vital spiritual landmark.
Patna East Superintendent of Police Parichay Kumar said the email claimed that explosives had been planted within the premises. Acting swiftly, authorities deployed bomb disposal squads along with sniffer dog units to conduct a thorough inspection of the complex. The search continued late into the night but yielded no suspicious objects, leading officials to believe the threat was a hoax.
Despite no explosives being found, the police have registered a case and handed the matter over to the Cyber Cell, which is now working to trace the origin of the threatening email. Investigators are also examining whether the email was part of a larger pattern of hoax threats intended to disrupt public life or create panic in sensitive areas.
