A minor road accident late Sunday night escalated into a fatal assault in Jabalpur after a car and a motorcycle collided head-on, leading to the stabbing death of a 27-year-old businessman, police said. The incident took place near the Durga Temple in the Gokulpur area between 11 pm and midnight.
According to police, Akansh (also known as Ekansh) Sahu, a furniture businessman, was driving his Hyundai Creta when it collided with a motorcycle. What initially appeared to be a routine traffic mishap quickly turned violent.
Eyewitnesses told police that an argument broke out immediately after the collision, with heated exchanges and abuse from both sides. The motorcyclist allegedly called several of his associates to the spot, and within minutes, more than three men arrived, significantly escalating the confrontation.

Police said the group attacked Sahu with knives, stabbing him multiple times before fleeing the scene. He was left critically injured on the road as the assailants escaped into the night. Local residents rushed him to the district hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning despite medical treatment.
Investigators revealed that Sahu was returning home after meeting friends in Gokulpur when the incident occurred. In a video reportedly recorded by Sahu before the attack, he is seen filming the biker and claiming that the motorcyclist was heavily intoxicated, a clip now being examined as part of the investigation.
A case of murder has been registered against an unidentified accused, and police teams have launched a manhunt. Ranji police station inspector Umesh Golhani said the clash stemmed from the accident and intensified after the biker called his friends, one of whom stabbed the victim. Chief Superintendent of Police Ranji, Satish Sahu, visited the crime scene, and CCTV footage from the area is being scanned, as police said arrests are expected soon.
