The Indian Army is set to create history at the 77th Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2026, by presenting its combat capabilities in a first-of-its-kind “Phased Battle Array format,” also known as Ranbhoomi Vyuh Rachna. The innovative display at Kartavya Path in New Delhi will mirror real battlefield conditions, arranging troops and equipment in tactical order as they would appear during combat operations.
The Phased Battle Array format represents a shift from traditional static displays to a dynamic, operational narrative. The presentation will begin with reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering assets, followed by combat strike elements, and conclude with support and sustainment systems. This sequencing is designed to offer a realistic depiction of modern warfare and integrated military operations.
According to the official release, the reconnaissance phase will feature the elite 61 Cavalry in active combat uniform, supported by the High Mobility Reconnaissance Vehicle—India’s first indigenously developed Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle. Aerial battlefield shaping will be demonstrated by the indigenous Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter and its armed variant, Rudra, flying in Prahar formation.

The combat phase will showcase heavy firepower, including T-90 Bhishma and Arjun Main Battle Tanks, alongside BMP-II Infantry Combat Vehicles and the Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-2. Air support will be provided by Apache AH-64E attack helicopters and the indigenously developed Prachand Light Combat Helicopter, underlining joint-force integration.
Special Forces units will follow, equipped with Ajayketu All-Terrain Vehicles, Randhwaj Rugged Terrain Tactical Transport Systems, and Dhawansak Light Strike Vehicles. Cutting-edge technologies such as robotic dogs, unmanned ground vehicles, and autonomous platforms—NIGRAHA, BHAIRAV, BHUVIRAKSHA and KRISHNA—will highlight the Army’s push toward future warfare capabilities.
The support and strike elements will include next-generation unmanned warhead systems like Shaktibaan and Divyastra, mounted on high-mobility vehicles and equipped with loitering munitions such as HAROP, Mini HARPY and Sky Striker. The display will also feature the Dhanush artillery gun, ATAGS, BrahMos supersonic missile system, Suryastra rocket launcher, Akash air defence system and ABHRA MRSAM, reflecting Aatmanirbhar Bharat and India’s growing dominance in precision and deep-strike warfare.
A glass-cased Integrated Operational Centre will depict the conduct of Operation Sindoor, symbolising the fusion of heritage, diversity and development. The Army said the display reflects the Sudarshan Chakra vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, combining offensive strike power with layered air defence to demonstrate India’s comprehensive and modernised warfighting capability.
