Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with Delhi farmers on Saturday to gather feedback ahead of the BJP government’s budget presentation on March 25, promising to address their longstanding issues. The interaction, held at the Delhi Secretariat, saw farmers voice key demands, with Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma also in attendance.

Farmers urged the immediate rollout of a land pooling policy, subsidies for fertilizers and seeds, and measures to protect crops from flooding due to overflowing drains during the monsoon. They also raised concerns over the seizure of diesel tractors after 10 years, requesting an extension to 20 years for agricultural use.

Gupta criticized previous administrations for neglecting rural needs, asserting that the BJP’s “double-engine government” would prioritize farmers. “We’ve heard every suggestion, and all problems will be resolved,” she assured, emphasizing collaboration with the central government to secure property rights in Delhi’s villages and rural areas.

The feedback session comes as the Delhi Assembly prepares for a five-day budget session starting March 25, during which the Gupta-led BJP government will unveil its “Viksit Delhi” budget for 2025-26. The initiative reflects the administration’s push to incorporate grassroots input, following months of consultations with various stakeholders. With rural development now in focus, Gupta’s assurances signal a shift toward addressing the capital’s agrarian challenges.
