The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday executed a high-stakes operation deep inside the impenetrable Mattan forest belt of Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, after conclusive evidence emerged that the suicide bomber behind the recent Red Fort car-bombing had conducted full-scale explosive trials at the very same location as part of a meticulously orchestrated terror conspiracy targeting the national capital.
Accompanied by heavily armed CRPF contingents and Jammu and Kashmir Police, NIA sleuths compelled two arrested “white-collar” operatives, Dr Adeel Rather and Jasir Bilal Wani, to physically lead investigators through the thick undergrowth to precisely identify sites where prime accused Dr Umar Un Nabi had detonated experimental devices. Teams recovered a mangled gas cylinder, charred residue and other material conclusively linked to a controlled blast carried out months earlier.
Sources confirmed the Kashmir field trial demolishes any notion of an impulsive attack, revealing instead a chilling months-long preparation cycle that involved laboratory refinement of explosives, procurement of precursor chemicals, repeated testing of detonation mechanisms in remote hideouts and final assembly before the bomber drove the weaponised vehicle into Delhi.

Forensic extraction from seized mobile devices has exposed obsessive searches on CRPF deployment patterns in the Valley, real-time monitoring of Article 370-related developments and encrypted coordination for funding and logistics, painting a portrait of a highly educated module fusing ideological rage with technical precision to maximise casualties and national shock.
With a string of arrests already effected for providing safe houses, interstate transport, financial channels and material support, the NIA has widened its dragnet across Jammu and Kashmir, Faridabad and Delhi, warning that forensic reports and fresh digital intelligence will trigger further arrests and expose any remaining sleeper cells or cross-border handlers behind one of independent India’s most audacious urban suicide bombings.
