The Shri Sanwalia Seth Temple in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district has once again drawn attention for its transparent donation management system after receiving more than Rs 10.11 crore on the first day of counting offerings collected from devotees. The renowned Krishna temple, located in the Mewar region, is widely regarded by many business owners as their "business partner," with devotees often donating a share of their profits as an expression of faith. Temple authorities said the counting process, which began on July 13, will continue for six days under strict security and monitoring arrangements.
The temple is known for receiving donations averaging between Rs 30 crore and Rs 40 crore every month. To manage the large volume of contributions, the administration has established a comprehensive accounting system supported by round-the-clock CCTV surveillance. Donation boxes, collection halls and administrative offices remain under constant monitoring, while devotees making direct contributions receive official receipts immediately, ensuring every transaction is properly documented.
One of the temple's distinctive practices is that its donation boxes are opened only 11 times each year. The entire process, from opening the sealed boxes to counting the cash, is conducted under continuous CCTV surveillance and manual supervision. Daily updates on the amount counted are also shared with the media, reinforcing transparency. Employees working inside the cash-counting centre undergo thorough security checks before entering and after leaving the premises to maintain accountability throughout the process.

Temple Board President Hazari Das Vaishnav said every rupee donated by devotees is carefully recorded and audited. According to him, the donations are not only used for the temple's operations but also finance a range of development initiatives. The temple administration is currently implementing projects worth nearly Rs 100 crore, including expansion and beautification of the temple complex, improved facilities for pilgrims and development works across 16 nearby villages.
To further strengthen financial transparency, the Shri Sanwalia Seth Temple maintains accounts with five banks located in Mandfiya. After donations are counted in the temple's Satsang Hall, representatives from each bank verify the collected amount, issue official receipts to the temple board and facilitate the transfer of funds into the respective bank accounts. Temple officials say this multi-layered verification process ensures that every donation is accurately recorded and securely managed.
The temple's transparent financial practices have earned widespread recognition at a time when questions surrounding the management of religious donations have attracted public attention elsewhere. Officials say the combination of rigorous accounting, independent verification, CCTV monitoring and public disclosure of donation figures reflects the administration's commitment to accountability. For thousands of devotees, particularly members of the business community, the Shri Sanwalia Seth Temple continues to represent not only a place of worship but also a symbol of trust, discipline and responsible management of public offerings.
