The Rajasthan Assembly erupted in chaos on Thursday, September 4, 2025, as Congress MLAs fiercely criticized the BJP-led state government for its alleged inaction on widespread crop losses caused by heavy rainfall. The uproar, which unfolded during the Zero Hour in Jaipur, saw opposition legislators demanding immediate compensation for farmers whose livelihoods have been devastated by the deluge.
Congress MLAs Amit Chachan and Narendra Budania led the charge, highlighting that lakhs of acres of farmland have been inundated, destroying standing crops across multiple districts. They accused the BJP government of gross negligence, claiming no concrete steps have been taken to address the crisis. The tension escalated when Congress MLA Ashok Chandna spoke without Speaker Vasudev Devnani’s permission, triggering a heated exchange between BJP and Congress legislators. Amid the sloganeering and disruptions, Devnani adjourned the proceedings until 2 p.m.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully staged a dramatic protest outside the Assembly, arriving on a tractor—barred from entry by security—and entering the premises with banners and crop samples damaged by the rains. Joined by other Congress MLAs, Jully accused the government of failing to provide relief to farmers and affected communities, stating, “Heavy rains have destroyed crops and caused significant damage to life and property, yet the government has done nothing.”

Disaster Relief Minister Kirodi Lal Meena attempted to quell the unrest, assuring the House that appropriate compensation would be provided. However, his statement did little to pacify the opposition, who continued their protests, underscoring the growing discontent among farmers. The chaotic scenes in the Assembly reflect the urgency of addressing the agricultural crisis, with Congress intensifying pressure on the BJP government to deliver swift and effective relief measures.
