A senior Border Security Force (BSF) official toured flood-hit border villages and posts in Punjab's Ferozepur district on Sunday to evaluate the situation and ongoing relief operations. Inspector General (Punjab Frontier) Atul Fulzele visited areas including Pritam Singh Wala, Pachharian, Palla Megha, Jakhrawan, Basti Ramlal, Kamlewala Dulchike, and Kilche villages amid one of Punjab's worst flood crises in decades.
This disaster stems from swollen Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, fuelled by heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab itself, submerging vast agricultural and residential lands.
During the visit, Fulzele engaged with local residents, assuring them of the BSF's swift and sustained assistance. He inspected medical camps organised by the force, encouraging villagers to utilise free medical and veterinary services, which will continue daily in the coming days across affected border zones.
The IG praised the dedication of BSF personnel involved in rescue and relief amid harsh conditions, highlighting their role in evacuations and aid distribution. His presence served as a morale booster for troops operating in challenging, waterlogged environments.
