Publishing house Penguin Random House India (PRHI) on Monday categorically denied the release of former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s memoir, Four Stars of Destiny, amid reports that unauthorised copies of the manuscript were in circulation. The publisher clarified that the book has not yet been published in any format.
In an official statement, PRHI said it holds the exclusive publishing rights to the memoir and stressed that no print or digital copies have been released for public access. The clarification came in response to growing speculation and controversy surrounding the alleged availability of the manuscript.
The publisher further warned that any copies currently circulating—whether in print, PDF, digital, or any other form—constitute a clear violation of its copyright. PRHI stated that it would take appropriate legal action against individuals or platforms involved in the unauthorised dissemination of the content.

The clarification follows the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) by the Delhi Police concerning the alleged illegal circulation of the unpublished manuscript. According to police officials, the case has been handed over to the Special Cell, which has launched a detailed investigation into the suspected leak or breach.
The controversy gained political traction last week when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen holding what appeared to be a copy of the memoir inside Parliament. Gandhi reportedly sought to quote from the book in the Lok Sabha but was disallowed, as the memoir has not yet received official publication clearance.
Authorities have stated that the investigation will focus on identifying the source of the leak and determining how the unpublished material entered the public domain. The incident has sparked wider debate on intellectual property protection and the security of sensitive unpublished manuscripts.
