Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kerala on January 23, where he will lay foundation stones, inaugurate, and flag off a series of major development projects in Thiruvananthapuram. The Prime Minister will also address a public gathering during the visit, highlighting the Centre’s development priorities for the state.
The projects to be launched cover a wide range of sectors including rail connectivity, urban livelihoods, science and innovation, healthcare, and citizen-centric services. Together, they reflect the government’s emphasis on inclusive growth, technological advancement, and improving the quality of life for citizens.
A key highlight of the visit will be the strengthening of rail infrastructure in the region. PM Modi will flag off four new train services, including three Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Nagercoil–Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram–Tambaram, and Thiruvananthapuram–Charlapalli, along with a new Thrissur–Guruvayur passenger train. These services are expected to enhance inter-state connectivity and boost tourism, trade, and employment.

To support urban livelihoods and financial inclusion, the Prime Minister will launch the PM SVANidhi Credit Card, a UPI-linked, interest-free revolving credit facility for street vendors. He will also disburse PM SVANidhi loans to one lakh beneficiaries, including vendors from Kerala, strengthening access to formal credit and encouraging digital transactions.
In the area of science and innovation, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the CSIR–NIIST Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub in Thiruvananthapuram. The hub will focus on life sciences and the bio-economy, integrate traditional knowledge systems such as Ayurveda with modern biotechnology, and promote startups, green hydrogen, and sustainable technologies.
Healthcare infrastructure will receive a significant boost with the foundation stone laying of a state-of-the-art Radiosurgery Centre at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new Poojappura Head Post Office, a modern facility offering postal, banking, insurance, and digital services, aimed at enhancing efficient and citizen-focused service delivery.
