The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi will hold its 57th Convocation on August 8, 2026, in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The event is scheduled to begin at 11 AM and will witness the participation of more than 3,000 graduating students, including 587 PhD scholars. Prime Minister Modi will address the graduating students during the ceremony.
The convocation will mark the completion of academic programmes across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels at IIT Delhi. The institute will also recognise students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance during their programmes. Among the honours to be presented are the President's Gold Medal, Director's Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal and Perfect Ten Gold Medals.
A major highlight of the event will be the inauguration of 'Param Pragya', an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility developed at IIT Delhi's Sonipat Campus in Haryana. The facility is aimed at strengthening the institute's computing and research capabilities by providing advanced computational resources to students, faculty members and researchers working on complex scientific and engineering problems.

The launch of Param Pragya is expected to support research involving artificial intelligence, large-scale computing and data-intensive applications. Such computing infrastructure can enable researchers to undertake computationally demanding projects across multiple disciplines, including advanced technology and engineering research. The facility is expected to become an important addition to IIT Delhi's research ecosystem.
The inauguration also reflects India's broader focus on strengthening artificial intelligence capabilities, advanced computing infrastructure and research-driven innovation. By expanding access to high-performance computing resources, institutions such as IIT Delhi can support research requiring substantial computational power and contribute to the development of emerging technologies.
The 57th Convocation will therefore combine the academic achievements of IIT Delhi's graduating students with a major technology-focused milestone for the institute. With more than 3,000 students receiving their degrees and the launch of Param Pragya, the ceremony is expected to highlight both academic excellence and the growing role of advanced computing and artificial intelligence in India's higher education and research landscape.
