Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the highly anticipated Yellow Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro on August 10, announced Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya. The 19.15-km stretch from RV Road to Bommasandra, built at a cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore, features 16 elevated stations and is expected to serve nearly eight lakh commuters daily, significantly alleviating traffic congestion at critical junctions like Silk Board.
In a post on X, Surya expressed gratitude, stating, “On behalf of all people of Bengaluru, I thank PM for always prioritising infrastructure development of our city.” He emphasized that public transport is the only long-term solution to Bengaluru’s notorious traffic challenges, crediting Modi’s personal oversight for ensuring the project meets its August 15 deadline.
Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar confirmed the event, noting that Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Rs 15,611-crore Phase-3 expansion, spanning 44.65 km with 31 stations. The Yellow Line will connect key residential and industrial hubs, including Electronic City, with seamless integration to the Green and upcoming Pink and Blue lines.
