PM Narendra Modi will chair a key meeting of the Council of Ministers at Sewa Teerth in Delhi on Thursday evening, marking the first such gathering of ministers this year amid growing speculation over a possible Union Cabinet reshuffle. The meeting, scheduled for 5 PM, will be attended by Union cabinet ministers, ministers of state with independent charge and other ministers of state.
According to sources, discussions surrounding a potential cabinet reshuffle are expected to feature prominently during the high-level interaction, although the government has not officially confirmed any changes. Officials said the meeting will review the functioning of various ministries, including major policy decisions, implementation of welfare schemes and administrative performance.
Ministers are also expected to discuss governance priorities, policy corrections and strategies to improve delivery mechanisms across departments in the coming months. The discussions are likely to include the impact of the ongoing Middle East crisis and the Iran conflict on India’s economy, particularly in areas such as energy prices, trade flows and supply chains.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to review preparedness measures and may issue directions to ministries on minimising the impact of global instability on citizens and businesses. According to reports, sectors including energy, agriculture, fertilisers, aviation, shipping and logistics are likely to receive special attention during the meeting. The government is also expected to focus on reforms aimed at improving infrastructure, economic resilience and public service delivery as part of its long-term governance agenda.
The meeting comes shortly after the Bharatiya Janata Party registered strong performances in recent Assembly elections in West Bengal and Assam, along with the return of an NDA government in Puducherry. Prime Minister Modi had earlier stressed the importance of sustained reforms over the next decade, describing the government’s policy approach as a “Reform Express” focused on systemic transformation and benefits for ordinary citizens.
