Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tejasvi Surya and his wife, Carnatic singer Sivasri Skandaprasad, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, presenting him with a rare 750-year-old manuscript of the ‘Sarvamoola Grantha.’
The meeting took place in the capital, where the couple sought Modi’s blessings following their recent wedding in Bengaluru on March 6.
The ‘Sarvamoola Grantha,’ authored by the 13th-century philosopher Madhvacharya, was preserved using Waferfiche technology—a silicon wafer method famously employed by NASA during moon missions to ensure durability for up to 1,000 years.
This preservation effort was spearheaded by Tara Prakashana, an NGO from Surya’s Bengaluru South constituency, showcasing a blend of ancient wisdom and modern innovation. Modi, visibly impressed, noted he had already seen photos from their wedding, adding a personal touch to the exchange.
Surya, the youngest BJP MP and president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, shared the moment on social media, writing in Kannada about the honor of receiving Modi’s blessings alongside Sivasri. The PM, a known admirer of Sivasri’s devotional music—having praised her 2024 Ram bhajan—accepted the manuscript, which underscores India’s rich cultural heritage.
The visit, part of Surya’s ongoing engagement with national leaders, highlights his rising stature within the party and his efforts to bridge tradition with progress, a theme resonant with Modi’s vision.
