Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired the second high-level meeting with Secretaries to the Government of India at his official residence, Lok Kalyan Marg, to review the future action agenda of key Ministries and Departments handling Finance and Economy, Commerce and Industry, and Technology. The meeting focused on accelerating progress towards the government's vision of Viksit Bharat, with discussions centred on improving governance, strengthening inter-departmental coordination and advancing India's long-term development priorities.

According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Modi called for a strong emphasis on team building across Ministries and Departments, urging senior officials to work with a shared sense of purpose. He stressed the need to break both horizontal and vertical silos within the government to ensure departments function in close coordination and deliver integrated outcomes. The Prime Minister said a collaborative approach would enable faster decision-making and more effective implementation of policies and programmes across sectors.

Emphasising the importance of citizen-centric governance, the Prime Minister said that the people of India must remain at the heart of every government initiative. He noted that every policy decision should be guided by the interests and aspirations of ordinary citizens, ensuring that governance remains responsive, transparent and outcome-oriented. According to the PMO, Modi encouraged Secretaries to focus on improving service delivery and maintaining a results-driven approach while implementing government schemes.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of technological self-reliance as India continues to expand investments in infrastructure. While acknowledging the country's significant spending on roads, railways, ports and other critical infrastructure, he stressed that equal priority must be given to developing indigenous technologies. Modi underscored the need to strengthen domestic capabilities in strategic sectors, saying technological innovation and self-reliance would play a key role in India's long-term economic growth and global competitiveness.

The review meeting brought together senior bureaucrats from Ministries responsible for finance, economic affairs, industry, commerce and technology to assess progress on ongoing initiatives and discuss future priorities. The discussions focused on aligning policy implementation with the government's broader development agenda while ensuring greater synergy between departments. Officials also reviewed measures aimed at improving institutional efficiency, enhancing coordination and accelerating the execution of projects critical to India's economic transformation.

The meeting forms part of a series of high-level reviews being conducted by the Prime Minister to monitor the implementation of key government priorities and reinforce administrative efficiency. As India works towards its Viksit Bharat vision, the government has been placing greater emphasis on integrated policymaking, technological advancement and citizen-focused governance. The PMO said the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of collective effort, innovation and seamless coordination across Ministries to achieve the country's long-term development objectives and deliver meaningful outcomes for its citizens.
