Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore on November 19, emphasizing India’s push towards sustainable and climate-smart agriculture. Welcomed with a warm reception by the South India Organic Farmers Federation and thousands of attendees, Modi visited various stalls showcasing organic produce and farming innovations from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.
During the summit, the Prime Minister released the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, disbursing ₹18,000 crore to benefit around 9 crore farmers nationwide. Under PM-KISAN, each eligible farmer receives an annual financial assistance of ₹6,000 paid in three equal instalments directly into their bank accounts. Tamil Nadu alone has seen 21.8 lakh farmers benefit from this scheme, including over 44,000 from the Coimbatore district.
The three-day summit gathers over 50,000 participants, including natural farming practitioners, scientists, input suppliers, and rural entrepreneurs from across South India. It aims to accelerate the adoption of natural and regenerative farming methods as a viable economic and climate-resilient model. The event features exhibitions, interactive sessions, live demonstrations, and a focus on engaging youth and women in sustainable agriculture.

Modi’s visit was marked by a grand roadshow from Coimbatore Airport with enthusiastic crowds lining the route, while tight security measures ensured smooth conduct of the event.
This summit and the sizeable PM-KISAN fund release signify a concerted effort by the government to support farmer welfare while transitioning India’s agriculture towards sustainability, climate resilience, and inclusive growth — a critical agenda for the nation’s rural economy and food security.
