PDP leader and Pulwama MLA Waheed Para praised Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s policy to rehabilitate victims of terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a “humane step” toward healing. However, he urged the administration to extend support to all victims of violence, including those harmed by state forces, to ensure inclusive reconciliation.
In a post on X, Para welcomed Sinha’s initiative, announced on August 5, 2025, which provides government jobs and financial aid to the next of kin of terror attack victims. “After years of a hardline approach, the LG’s decision shows compassion is key to bringing Kashmiris closer to the nation,” he said. Over 1,200 families have benefited, with 1,000 jobs allocated since 2023, targeting victims of attacks like the 2024 Pahalgam incident that killed 26.
However, Para emphasized that true statesmanship requires recognizing all victims, including those affected by “mistakes of forces.” “Not every person killed was anti-national. Selective rehabilitation leaves many unhealed. Where do these families go?” he asked, advocating for a uniform policy to foster genuine integration. X posts echo his call, with users highlighting cases of civilian deaths in alleged crossfire incidents since 2019.

Para’s remarks come amid ongoing security operations, like the Kulgam encounter, and reflect a broader push for empathy-driven governance to address Jammu and Kashmir’s complex trauma.
