On July 11, 2025, a bomb threat email sent to the director of Jayaprakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport in Patna at 9:00 pm triggered heightened security measures, including thorough searches by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad.
The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) convened and declared the threat "non-specific" and a hoax, as no suspicious items were found, according to Airport Director Anchal Prakash. City SP Central, Diksha, confirmed a case has been registered, with the cyber cell of the Economic Offences Unit working to trace the sender’s IP address.
This marks the second hoax threat to JPNI in 10 days, following a similar incident on June 29, 2025, reflecting a pattern of such emails targeting Indian airports, including 41 others in June 2024. Airport operations continued uninterrupted, with enhanced vigilance to ensure passenger safety.
