The mastermind behind the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, Sulieman alias Asif, was among three terrorists killed by Indian Army para commandos in a forest near Srinagar on Monday. The operation, dubbed 'Operation Mahadev,' also neutralized Jibran, linked to last year’s Sonamarg Tunnel attack, and Hamza Afghani. Rajesh Narwal, father of slain Navy officer Lt Vinay Narwal, praised the bravery of the Army, paramilitary, and J-K police, stating, “I salute their courage; they hunted them down, a task not easy.”
The April 22 attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadows claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, including Lt Vinay Narwal, a 26-year-old newlywed on his honeymoon with his wife, Himanshi. The couple was shot at point-blank range. Rajesh Narwal, speaking in Karnal, reiterated Pakistan’s role in the attack, calling the operation a “big success” for India’s forces. He had previously lauded Operation Sindoor, launched May 7 to dismantle terror networks in Pakistan, noting it sent a strong message to perpetrators.
The breakthrough came after security forces intercepted a satellite phone signal tied to the Pahalgam attack, enabling the surprise strike. Rajesh Narwal emphasized the forces’ relentless pursuit, saying, “I knew they would hunt them down one day.” In May, he had hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm response, stating it would deter future attacks.
The operation underscores India’s resolve to combat terrorism, with Narwal urging honors for the jawans’ valor.
