Congress leader Rahul Gandhi chaired a crucial meeting of the Gujarat Congress coordination committee on Tuesday night, laying out a performance-driven roadmap for promotions and election tickets ahead of the 2027 state assembly elections.
Held at the circuit house, the meeting saw participation from senior state leaders, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, and Gujarat in-charge Mukul Wasnik, according to a party release.
Gandhi emphasized accountability, declaring that only leaders who deliver results would earn promotions. He outlined clear responsibilities for senior members, assigning tasks to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and challenge the ruling BJP in 2027.

The Congress leader warned that those failing to meet expectations would be sidelined, and leaders active only during elections would not secure party tickets.
Prioritizing grassroots engagement, Gandhi assured that workers and leaders who consistently connect with the public would be rewarded with tickets. He also promised that district presidents demonstrating strong performance could be appointed ministers if Congress wins power in Gujarat.
The meeting included a review of state leaders’ efforts, signaling a strategic push to rebuild the party’s influence in a state long dominated by the BJP.
This move reflects Gandhi’s focus on meritocracy and organizational discipline as Congress aims to reverse its electoral fortunes. With Gujarat’s political landscape in sight, the party is banking on active, people-centric leadership to mount a formidable challenge in the upcoming polls.
