Kota-Bundi MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited rain-ravaged areas of Kota district on Wednesday, consoling families who lost loved ones to recent floods. Birla assessed the damage and reviewed ongoing development and plantation efforts aimed at preventing rainwater from flooding residential zones.
In Ranpur, where a 27-year-old woman was tragically swept away in an overflowing brook while riding a scooter, Birla proposed diverting water from Ranpur pond and Alaniya to the Chambal River to curb waterlogging. He also directed officials to expand drainage systems for better flood management. At Borkhandi Government School, he ordered immediate repairs for peeling walls to ensure safety.
In Nimoda Hariji village, Birla met the families of six youths who perished in the Chambal River on Monday. He instructed the district collector to form a four-member committee to investigate the incident, which has since been established. Birla’s swift actions signal a strong push to address Kota’s flooding crisis and prevent future tragedies.
