The Odisha Vigilance Department launched simultaneous raids on Thursday at six locations linked to Dileswar Majhi, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Titlagarh R&B Sub-Division, probing allegations of disproportionate assets. The operations, spanning Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bolangir districts, were authorized by search warrants from the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir.
A team of five Deputy Superintendents of Police, eight inspectors, two Assistant Sub-Inspectors, and support staff targeted Majhi’s properties, including a double-storeyed building in Sambalpur’s Sarla area, two housing board quarters in Jharsuguda, a market complex in Brajrajnagar, his office in Kantabanji, and government quarters in Titlagarh.
By 12:30 pm, the raids uncovered Rs 6.57 lakh in cash, including Rs 6 lakh hidden in a secret chamber beneath a bed in Sambalpur, 300 grams of gold, bank deposits worth Rs 20 lakh, a Swift Dzire car, and two motorcycles. Additionally, four buildings and nine high-value plots were identified, with the Vigilance Technical Wing assessing their value.

The searches, which continue, are expected to reveal more assets. The investigation follows reports of Majhi’s wealth exceeding his known income sources, prompting a thorough examination of his financial records.
