Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi celebrated a monumental achievement at the SEMICON India 2025 Conclave in New Delhi, where India’s first homegrown semiconductor chip was unveiled. The spotlight shone on Odisha’s Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC), Berhampur, for developing the High-Performance Multiplier IC C2S0061, a critical component poised to revolutionise high-speed computing and embedded systems.
“This is a historic milestone in India’s quest for technological supremacy,” Majhi declared at the conclave, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He took to X to express his pride, stating, “The launch of India’s first Made in India chip at #SEMICONIndia2025 is truly inspiring. Kudos to PMEC Berhampur for their groundbreaking High-Performance Multiplier IC!”
Odisha’s innovation didn’t stop there. NIT Rourkela contributed the VG Amplifier and Sensor Circuit (C2S0018) and the Present Encryption Core (C2S0017), further cementing the state’s role in India’s semiconductor journey. “These achievements showcase Odisha’s talent and innovation, propelling us toward global tech leadership,” Majhi posted.
