The Noida International Airport witnessed temporary waterlogging after a spell of exceptionally heavy rain on Tuesday, with a viral video showing accumulated water on a stretch connecting the terminal with the parking area. Airport personnel were seen working to drain the water as the authorities moved quickly to restore normal movement. Officials maintained that the situation did not disrupt flight operations or passenger movement.
The video, which has circulated widely on social media, was also shared by former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav. Taking a political dig at the BJP-led government, Yadav posted the 28-second clip on his official X account and asked, “Will boats now run at the airport?” His post drew attention to the water accumulation at the recently operational greenfield airport.
The Uttar Pradesh government maintained that the temporary accumulation of water was cleared within 30 minutes. According to an official statement, airport teams immediately responded to the situation and ensured drainage, after which movement along the affected route returned to normal. Authorities also stated that teams remained alert to changing weather conditions to prevent disruptions to passengers.

Airport authorities attributed the temporary waterlogging to a sudden spell of exceptionally heavy rainfall. They noted that arrangements were in place to maintain uninterrupted movement between the terminal and parking area during adverse weather. The airport management stressed that passenger convenience and the continuity of movement remained the priority while teams monitored the weather and responded to rain-related conditions.
The Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, was inaugurated on March 28 and began commercial operations on June 15. The greenfield airport has been developed through a public-private partnership involving the Uttar Pradesh government and is being positioned as a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region. The airport is expected to begin international flight operations by the end of this year, while construction of its international terminal is slated for completion by September-October.
