A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences’ (NBEMS) disclosure process for NEET-PG 2026, arguing that candidates have not been provided the actual questions and answer options they saw during the examination. The petition seeks complete candidate-wise examination records and a time-bound mechanism for candidates to raise objections before the counselling process advances.
NEET-PG 2026 was conducted on August 30, with 2,65,960 candidates appearing for the postgraduate medical entrance examination. The results were declared on September 24, after which NBEMS released question-wise evaluation and answer-key-related details through individual applicant logins on October 1.
The petition, filed by the Democratic Medical Association, challenges the NBEMS notice issued on October 1. According to the plea, the examination body has disclosed Question IDs, numerical IDs of correct answers, candidates’ recorded responses and marks awarded for each question, but has not provided the actual question text or the complete answer options in the order in which they appeared to individual candidates.

The petitioner has argued that this format makes it difficult for candidates to independently verify whether their responses were correctly mapped and whether the answer key was applied to the questions they attempted. Since NEET-PG uses candidate-specific shuffling of questions and answer options, the plea says numerical IDs alone may not establish what appeared on a particular candidate’s screen. It has cited possible issues such as ambiguous questions, multiple correct answers and discrepancies in answer mapping.
The petition seeks directions for NBEMS to provide each candidate with a complete examination record, including the actual questions in the sequence presented, the complete answer options in candidate-specific order, recorded responses, the corresponding correct answers under the final official key and marks awarded for every question. It also seeks a downloadable and permanent electronic copy in formats such as PDF or CSV, along with a reasonable and time-bound process for candidates to submit objections after reviewing the records.
The plea also refers to an earlier NEET-PG 2025 case, Upendra Yadav vs National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, concerning disclosure of Question IDs, answer keys and candidate responses. With NEET-PG 2026 results already declared and counselling due to follow, the petitioner has sought broader disclosure guidelines for the current examination as well as standard procedures for future postgraduate medical entrance tests. The petition is represented by Advocate Satyam Singh Rajpoot and Advocate-on-Record Neema.
