Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has issued a stern directive to 72 institutions allotted 948 acres in Amaravati, the state’s greenfield capital, to complete their construction projects within two-and-a-half to three years, with no extensions permitted. During a review meeting on Tuesday within the Capital Region Development Authority limits, Naidu emphasized the urgency of starting construction as committed.
“Finish on time, not a day late,” Naidu declared, addressing representatives from educational institutions, hotels, central government offices, RBI, banks, healthcare providers, IT parks, and religious organizations. Of the 61 institutions present, many joined virtually, sharing detailed execution plans and timelines.
Naidu underscored Amaravati’s role as a burgeoning financial hub, with fintech and economic services at its core. He invited suggestions to strengthen this vision and promised a single-window system to streamline permissions, ensuring no bureaucratic delays. “If any official stalls progress, contact me directly,” he assured.

The institutions, seen as partners in Amaravati’s historic development, outlined their contributions. Three plan to start construction in July, 15 within two months, 13 in five months, and 17 within six months. Ten have already begun, and three have completed their buildings. BITS Pilani presented its campus design, while others projected significant job creation post-construction.
Some organizations, including hospitality players, requested additional land—up to 2.5 acres for convention centers—while others sought space for parking or, in the case of the postal department, a training center for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana staff.
With a 54,000-acre land bank already in place, the TDP-led NDA government is working to secure an additional 40,000 acres to transform Amaravati into a megapolis, integrating Mangalagiri, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Tadepalli. Naidu’s vision positions Amaravati as a global destination, with world-class institutions driving its growth.
