In a tragic incident that shook Nagpur, Maharashtra, a massive explosion at an explosives factory claimed one life and injured eight others in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025. The catastrophic blast, which occurred at 12:30 am at a Solar Group plant in Bazargaon, caused the entire crystallization building to collapse, sending shockwaves through the local community and raising serious concerns about industrial safety.
The explosion took place in the facility’s crystallization building, where energetic materials are processed, according to Ashish Kumar Srivastava, Senior General Manager of Solar Group. The victim, a 25-year-old worker, tragically lost their life, while the eight injured were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Srivastava confirmed that the company is covering all medical expenses for the injured and has pledged appropriate compensation for the deceased’s family.
Preliminary reports suggest there were warning signs before the explosion, allowing some workers to evacuate the plant in time. The factory’s cooling system and emergency evacuation protocols were activated immediately after the blast, ensuring a swift response. Senior company officials, alongside local police, arrived at the scene promptly to manage the crisis. “All safety procedures were followed, and our teams responded effectively,” Srivastava told PTI Videos, adding that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion.
