An MG Windsor electric vehicle was involved in an unusual road incident in Ludhiana after a video showing the car apparently moving without anyone inside went viral on social media. The footage shows the vehicle travelling uncontrolled, colliding with a roadside vendor and later hitting a tree. The car appears to continue moving after the crash, with smoke visible near its front section.

In the video, the vehicle’s owner can be seen walking alongside the MG Windsor and warning people nearby to move away. The man reportedly says that the car is locked and that he is unable to control its movement. After travelling for some distance, the EV collides with a tree, while its front wheel appears to turn erratically.

Smoke can be seen around the front portion of the vehicle following the collision. Bystanders eventually intervene and break a side window in an apparent attempt to bring the vehicle to a stop. However, the footage does not establish when the incident took place or what initially caused the car to move without a driver, leaving the circumstances surrounding the incident unclear.

The video has prompted discussion on social media, with some users raising concerns about possible vehicle malfunction and others questioning the safety implications of increasingly software-driven cars. The MG Windsor is equipped with technology-focused features, while higher variants offer advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Such systems use software, sensors, cameras and vehicle-control systems to provide various safety and convenience functions. However, the presence of these technologies alone does not establish that an ADAS feature caused the Ludhiana incident.

There is currently no official statement from MG Motor India or local police confirming the circumstances of the incident shown in the video. It also remains unclear whether the vehicle was in a particular driving mode, whether it remained active after the owner exited, or whether a mechanical, electrical or software-related fault was involved.
