Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday addressed the 70th Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) conference at Chungtia Village, Mokokchung, highlighting the multiple challenges facing the state. Key issues include the long-pending Naga political issue, concerns surrounding the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system, and the need to effectively harness the state’s mineral resources.
Speaking as the Special Guest, Rio emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among all Naga tribes to overcome social fragmentation and governance challenges. He underscored the protection of Article 371A and the importance of bridging divides within the Naga community to ensure sustainable progress.
The Chief Minister elaborated on state initiatives such as the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) and the landmark consultative meeting held on September 12, 2024, which brought key stakeholders together to address the Naga political issue. He urged a shift away from “blame culture” toward sincere dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.

Rio also appealed to the youth, stressing that the history and legacy of their forefathers are a “call to action” for present and future generations. He lauded the Ao tribe’s contributions and referred to Nagaland as the “Land of Pioneers,” recognizing the role of the AKM in promoting education, social development, and cultural preservation.
Highlighting the AKM’s motto, “For the Nation,” Rio praised the organization’s vision, which extends beyond a single tribe to the advancement of all Naga communities. He called on the younger generation to uphold these responsibilities, ensuring the founders’ vision remains central to Nagaland’s development.
Concluding his address, Rio reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to proactive governance and inclusive development. He stressed that dialogue, mutual respect, and collective action are essential to navigating Nagaland’s complex social, political, and economic landscape.
