The Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, on Thursday lauded NCC cadets for their active role during Operation Sindoor, emphasizing that true success goes beyond personal achievements and includes contributing to the nation. Addressing cadets at the ongoing National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp in Delhi Cantonment, he stressed that service to the country is a responsibility for every citizen, irrespective of their future profession.
Singh recounted his personal journey, noting that he faced failures along the way but ultimately rose to the top post in the IAF. He encouraged cadets not to be discouraged by setbacks, urging them to view challenges as opportunities to grow stronger and serve the nation with dedication.
Highlighting the civil defence contributions of NCC cadets during Operation Sindoor, Singh said their participation in emergency drills, blood donation camps, and public awareness initiatives inspired thousands across the country. The IAF chief described the operation as a reminder that life should balance personal pursuits with meaningful service to society.

Operation Sindoor, carried out in the early hours of May 7, 2025, targeted terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives. NCC cadets played a supportive role in civil defence measures during the operation, showcasing the synergy between the armed forces and youth volunteers.
The Republic Day Camp hosts a total of 2,406 NCC cadets, including 898 girls, and will conclude with the NCC Prime Minister’s Rally on January 28. Vice President C P Radhakrishnan inaugurated the month-long camp, which features cultural performances, drills, and leadership exercises aimed at fostering patriotism and discipline among the cadets.
Before addressing the cadets, Air Chief Marshal Singh attended several cultural events, including a dance performance depicting Operation Sindoor. The act showcased air strikes and defence strategies, symbolically honoring the cadets’ contribution to national security while promoting the vision of a “Viksit Bharat.”
