Mumbai and its adjoining suburbs are expected to experience partly cloudy skies, light rainfall, and occasional thunderstorms over the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather department has also indicated that conditions remain favorable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into Maharashtra within the next three to four days. Residents may witness intermittent showers accompanied by thunder and lightning as weather patterns gradually shift toward the monsoon season.
According to weather forecasts, Mumbai is likely to record temperatures ranging between 29 degrees Celsius and 36 degrees Celsius during this period. Meteorological agencies have predicted a possibility of thunderstorms during morning and late-night hours, with a moderate chance of precipitation across several parts of the city. While the weather is expected to remain warm and humid, isolated rain-bearing clouds could provide temporary relief from the prevailing heat conditions.
The IMD's local forecast for Mumbai city and suburban areas for the next 24 to 48 hours suggests a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers. The department has also issued a broader regional outlook indicating isolated to scattered rainfall activity across the Konkan region between June 10 and June 13. Similar rainfall activity is expected over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada from June 8 onward.

Weather officials have further warned of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds across Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada from June 8 to June 10. Wind speeds could reach 40 to 50 kmph and may occasionally gust up to 60 kmph in some areas. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions and follow safety guidelines issued by local administrations.
Despite the approaching monsoon, several parts of Maharashtra continue to experience intense heat and strong winds. In the past 24 hours, notable wind speeds were recorded in districts including Buldhana, Pune, Nandurbar, Nashik, Beed, Hingoli, and Raigad. The combination of high temperatures and gusty conditions has contributed to challenging weather across several regions of the state.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has advised farmers not to rush into sowing operations, citing forecasts that suggest widespread and satisfactory monsoon rainfall is unlikely before June 15. While the southwest monsoon has entered parts of south Konkan, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall in districts such as Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri, overall rainfall activity across the state is expected to remain subdued over the coming week. Citizens have also been urged to avoid taking shelter under trees, metal structures, electrical poles, or power lines during thunderstorms and lightning activity.
