Mumbai experienced overcast skies and intermittent rainfall on Wednesday morning following overnight showers across several parts of the city, as unsettled pre-monsoon conditions continued to affect the region. The weather has remained humid and unstable, with authorities cautioning residents about the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds through the day.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a forecast indicating thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall over Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar. Wind speeds are expected to reach 30–40 kmph in isolated areas, with conditions described as highly likely during the forecast period. Coastal and suburban regions are expected to experience the most frequent fluctuations in weather activity.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the current weather pattern is being influenced by localized atmospheric instability, which often leads to short-duration but intense bursts of rain and thunderstorm activity. Officials have advised residents to exercise caution during peak thunderstorm hours, particularly while commuting or remaining in open areas exposed to lightning risk.

Despite the rain-bearing systems, temperatures in the city are expected to remain elevated, with the maximum likely touching around 36°C and the minimum hovering near 30°C. High humidity levels are expected to add to discomfort, making conditions feel warmer than actual readings, even during periods of rainfall or cloud cover.
Meteorological updates from private forecaster AccuWeather suggest that thunderstorms may occur in select pockets during the morning hours, followed by breezy and humid conditions later in the day. The probability of precipitation is estimated at around 55%, indicating that while rainfall will not be continuous, scattered showers are likely across different parts of the city.
Several areas of Mumbai reported rainfall late on Tuesday night, highlighting the uneven nature of the weather system. Showers were observed in Sion and parts of the central suburbs, while heavier rain activity was recorded near the Bandra–Worli Sea Link. Light drizzles were also reported in Prabhadevi, Vikhroli, and Kanjurmarg between 9:37 pm and 9:45 pm, reflecting short but widespread rainfall bursts across multiple neighbourhoods.
Overall, the city continues to experience a transitional weather phase marked by fluctuating cloud cover, intermittent rain, and warm temperatures. While no severe disruption has been reported so far, authorities are maintaining a watch on evolving conditions as thunderstorm activity remains a possibility throughout the day. Residents have been urged to stay updated with official advisories as the situation develops.
